Now more than ever, we need to come together for our oppressed brothers and sisters. The more we have a constant reminder of the crucial need for justice for George Floyd and the countless others that have been victim of police brutality and the incompetent judicial system, the less likely we are to once again let a necessary cause get lost in our daily living. With most of the nation continuing to wear face masks for the rest of the year due to COVID-19, this is a good way to be that constant reminder for others. Don’t let this cause die down or be forgotten or brushed off. Let’s strive to be a daily reminder to be part of the solution.

This fundraiser serves three purposes. First, to be a walking reminder of the death of George Floyd and the oppression of black people in this country and the need for drastic change in our culture. Second, all the proceeds of this fundraiser go to an incredible non-profit led by my friend Brandon. The Terrell L. Bruce Memorial is a non profit created in honor of Brandon’s late brothers, Nathaniel and Terrell. These were two young men taken too soon from this earth, but not before trying to be the change they wanted to see in this world. Brandon’s non-profit serves students who come from economically, socially, or culturally disadvantaged backgrounds through scholarships, career fairs, volunteer opportunities, and fundraisers of their own. Lastly, not everyone can attend the protests and marches due to varying circumstances, so this is a great way to support the cause and still “protest” in public every time you wear the mask.
